Random News [:May 2011:]

A new month has arrived. And although activity is low over here (and I myself came online very rarely in the past month or so), I am making a new random news section where we can post miscellanea. Keep your news coming!

  1. News from me: a bit late, but I just finished my first month on a new job. I'm working now in a company offering education in hospitality for people of all ages in search of qualification.

Other than that, I'm having a very important meeting later this month (in two weeks' time), but I'll keep the details away for now.

  2. Hi John!
What do you mean offering education in hospitality? Sorry I don't understand, but do you mean, for example, training to work in a restaurant or hotel?

As for me, I have joined a website called BookCountry.com, a peer-reviewing website where one posts material to be reviewed by others. It is great, for those who like to write! Im there under AJRSottil.

As to the rest, classes end in almost two weeks, and for the summer I was fortunate enough to be offered a sponsored trip to Paris! I am extremely happy, for traveling there from Mexico is expensive so I don't know when I would have been able to do it by myself.

  3. What I mean, alavaro, is exactly what you understood! The company is a school for lifelong learning. People who want to find a job in hospitality (hotels, restaurants, travel agencies) need some special courses. These are the type of courses we offer.

Now about the meeting I was telling you about... I'm having an important guest here in Bucharest: none other than telco himself. As administrators of the blog, we've met to discuss the fates of the rest... actually no, we just thought to put into practice that old idea of a face-to-face meeting; it's a start in that direction.

  4. That's Great! I am so jealous... It is hard to travel over there from here in the American Continent...
I am going to go to France this summer, so that is exciting, at least.

The company you are working in sounds really interesting. I never would have really thought about it, but now that I have, those courses make sense.

How did your meeting go? Say hi to telco for me!

  5. Hi alavaro! Actually there was not one single meeting! What kind of host would I be? In fact I tried to show telco around Bucharest on his first day here and the next days we'd just meet in the evening (because I work during the day) and go out somewhere. It's a great opportunity, I think, to be able to exchange some thoughts face to face after knowing someone for so long online.

  7. I enjoyed reading your book review, John. Now I want to read it! I never knew what it was about and you make it sound like a fun book to read. The issue you reviewed with its extra information and reproductions sounds very nice.
